What does a typical workshop look like?
Each Rise workshop is designed with age-appropriate activities and introduces important topics in a fun, safe and inclusive environment for participants to ask questions, have support from mentors and coaches and share experiences with new friends.
Our programming includes three main components during each workshop:
1. Engaging ice-breakers, games and activities
2. Discussions, journaling and reflection
3. Sport skill building and physical literacy
Activities range from icebreakers, group games and both individual and team challenges. Each discussion focuses on one of six key pillars of youth development - confidence, community, leadership, self-awareness, resilience or growth and are paired with meaningful reflection exercises such as journaling and meditation. Skill building for sport is designed using age-specific physical literacy activities, games, circuits and relays. An emphasis is placed on having fun while moving our bodies and building our overall strength, coordination, speed, agility and confidence. This multisport approach will open participants to an array of sports while encouraging a positive relationship with sport and exercise for healthy active lifestyles for life.
